As a wedding photographer, my passion and my work centers on capturing happy moments for my brides and grooms. And while I love photography, the one thing I love more than my couples is my own family. That’s why it’s so important to me that I find the time to balance my work and my home life. This past October, I carved out some quality time to take a vacation with my loved ones.
Orlando Family Vacation: Family Photography
This was a very special vacation for me. My wife and I had not been to Orlando since we were children, and we couldn’t wait to share the magic with our own children. I mentioned to my extended family that we were going to Orlando and asked if they wanted to come and they agreed! This was a big family trip for all of us! It ended up being my wife, Kate, and me; our two children; my sister, Jen and her husband, Dan; their three girls; my sister, Jolene; my parents, John and Robin; and even my Aunt Merlann!
This vacation to Orlando was the very first time my kids, John Michael and Lydia had been on a plane. I loved seeing how the two of them were mesmerized. They loved flying! Of course, the flight was just the beginning of the magic for this family vacation.
Discovery Cove Vacation Photography
One of the highlights of our trip was when we visited Discovery Cove. Discovery Cove is a tropical water park that is owned by Sea World. While we were there, we rented a cabana and got to relax in the sun and play all day. Isn’t that the best part of a vacation? We snorkeled, soaked up some sunshine and even got to swim with a dolphin! It was incredible. We really wanted to have the chance to go snorkeling so it was a real highlight of our trip.
We spent some time at Sea World itself, as well. It’s such a beautiful and educational experience. The kids got a chance to see sea turtles, penguins, and all sorts of different kinds of birds and fish. Of course, we had to make a point to see the Signature Sea World Killer Whale show! It didn’t disappoint. I loved seeing how excited John Michael and Lydia were every time the majestic creatures jumped out of the water.
Epcot Center Memories
What’s a trip to Orlando without some time at Walt Disney World? We headed over to Epcot center and had an amazing time. The kids all loved going “around the world” and visiting the different countries and cultures. We took pictures all around the park. It was so much fun getting to meet new people and really experience the different cultures in each nation. We stayed that night to experience the absolutely amazing fireworks display over the lake. It was something truly magnificent to witness. I am really happy with how the photographs came out!
Overall, this family vacation was such a special time. I loved seeing everyone have an incredible experience together. It’s so important to take the time to slow down and make amazing memories with the people who are most important. It was the best, and I am so thankful we were able to spend this time together and forge these memories.
Spending this magical time with the people I love helped me to be more refreshed and ready to capture the special moments for all my wedding photography clients! Please enjoy these family photographs from our adventure!
