Even though most of my days are spent as a Pennsylvania wedding photographer, my main job is being a father. I love the flexibility that wedding photography offers me to be able to have an active role in my children’s lives. This past winter, I attended a skating exhibition for the public put on by White Rose Figure Skating Club in York, PA. My children, John Michael and Lydia, both performed in this exhibition, and I was so proud of them!
White Rose Figure Skating Club Skating Exhibition
I love being able to support my children and see the things they love to do. Both my children and my nephew, Jerry, skate with the White Rose Skating Club. I am so thankful that we can be a part of a skating club with so many friends from our community and church. John Michael, Lydia and Jerry skated together as “The Three Musketeers.” It was such fun and everyone in the crowd loved it. All three were in these great Three Musketeers costumes, complete with hats and swords. These kids are truly “one for all and all for one” both on and off the ice, so it was such fun to see them in this routine.
Another community connection was with one of my wedding photography assistants, Kala Enfield. Outside of wedding photography, Kala is also a skating coach and performer. She skated in the exposition as well, in an awesome all-black costume. It was amazing.
This skating exhibition was such fun to watch. I really enjoyed all the creative programs, especially the Three Musketeers and Cinderella’s Mice. It was so cute the way the kids were all involved. But I also really enjoyed seeing skaters of all ages. There were people performing from all ages and skill levels. It really made me smile to see so many people from my community doing something they loved and sharing their skill with others.
While these aren’t wedding photos, capturing the athleticism, passion and joy in this skating exhibition was a true pleasure to capture. I am blessed to be able to take the time to be a part of a great skating club like White Rose Figure Skating Club in York. Please enjoy the images from this fun day.
