Featured Wedding Venue : Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens

Stolzfus Homestead and Gardens Feature John Malloy Photography

I’ve been photographing weddings at Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens since back in 2014, when I met one of the two who run the homestead, Dawn, at a bridal show.  Stoltzfus has been and always will be one of my favorite places to work and photograph as a wedding photographer. Let me tell you why.

Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens Venue Feature

Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens in Intercourse, PA is one of those places in Pennsylvania that just glows with wedding magic.  It’s an absolutely stunning venue with loads of PA charm.

When homesteaders purchased the property all the way back in the 1700’s, little did they know it would one day become one of Pennsylvania’s premier wedding venues today!  The homestead boasts two beautiful barns on the property, both having been built 100 years apart. There’s the Grand Barn that was built in the 1800’s and the Tobacco Barn, which was built in the 1900’s.  The homesteaders used gorgeous colonial craftsmanship to create the stunning barns, and they are now used today as part of the wedding packages, the Tabacco Barn for elegant ceremonies, and the Grand Barn for lively receptions.

Dawn and Brian Waltman both run the property at Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens.  And so far, they’ve done a fantastic job with the place! Both are wonderful to work with, as Dawn keeps everything so organized, positive, and happy, and Brian keeps all the grounds and logistics right on track.

The property is absolutely gorgeous for pictures.  The Grand Barn has this rustic charm that I think only PA can offer.  I love taking the bride and groom in there after the ceremony before the rest of the guests trickle in for the reception.  And the Tobacco Barn provides all of the elegance a wedding ceremony needs. It’s been totally refinished, with white, creamy walls and hardwood floors, making it gorgeous for pictures.  It’s a like a quaint, half-elegant, half-rustic chapel that people just love to be in. But it’s the grounds that really get me.

I love the Wedding Gardens at Stoltzfus.  They provide a spacious area with lush greenery.  Incredibly ideal for outdoor ceremonies. One of my favorite spots to take pictures of couples is the corn crib located in the Wedding Gardens, especially at sunset, or even at night, wrapped in twinkle lights!  Such an amazing spot!

And for outdoor receptions, the Outdoor Lounge & Courtyard has you covered.  The space just makes you want to relax and hang out with your wedding guests after a long wedding day.

But Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens has so many other great spaces for a wedding day, too.  The brides’ “Getting Ready” room is beautiful, with the windows allowing gorgeous light over the white walls for some really great shots of the bride, pre-ceremony.

I guess what I’m trying to say is if you’re planning a wedding, but you’re having trouble picking out the perfect venue, then check this place out!  It’s an absolutely amazing venue and I’ve been so proud of the weddings I’ve captured there. Thank you, Dawn and Brian, for keeping up such a wonderful place.  I hope to be shooting weddings at Stoltzfus Homestead & Gardens for years to come!
