A while ago, the family and I took a nice vacation to Idlewild & SoakZone Amusement Park in In Ligonier, PA. We had an absolute blast, as was expected and I wanted to share the awesome photos I took of the whole family!
Idlewild & SoakZone Amusement Park in Ligonier, PA
If you’ve read any of the Malloy Family blog posts, you know we like to have a good time. We try to do fun things as a family on a regular basis. So when we were visiting my parents, John Sr. and Robin Malloy in Indiana, we knew we’d have to take a day trip to Idlewild & SoakZone Amusement Park!
Idlewild is an amazing amusement park in Ligonier, PA just outside of Indiana. It was started way back in 1878 when the owner of the property, William Darlington gave “the right and privilege to occupy his land for picnic purposes and pleasure grounds.” Prior to this, the land was used for the railroad to move coal from the mines at Fort Palmer. The agreement with Darlington allowed campgrounds to be built on each side of the tracks, an artificial lake–the works! And so, Idlewild was created.
Through the years, it went through many changes. After 1930, more amusements were added as the park changed ownership, with each new owner adding more and more until we arrived at the present. Now Idlewild is a hustling, bustling, fun-filled extravaganza that any kid (and adult) can enjoy!
Idylwild: Fun For The Whole Family
We love taking our kids, John Michael and Lydia to fun places doing fun things with them. It keeps us young! The ropes course at the park was a blast and I made sure to get some good photos of John Michael and Lydia as we went through.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved ferris wheels and carousels. Going to amusement parks was a big part of my childhood with my parents. Now that Kate and I are parents, we get to do it with our kids! And of course, it’s always great when I can still bring my parents along. Idylwild Amusement Park: Truly fun for the whole family!
