Mandy and Danny | A Lancaster County Fall Wedding

Stoltzfus Homestead and Gardens

It was a beautiful day at Stoltzfus Homestead and Gardens when Mandy and Danny said “I do” in front their family and close friends. Photographing their wedding was a pleasure. They are so fun and sweet. All of their images turned out really well, but the evening images are probably my favorite!

“I couldn’t imagine walking this perfectly imperfect life without him by side every step of the way.” Sweet sentiments that Mandy said to Danny during their wedding ceremony. Her love for him is so evident. She says, “From the first day I met Danny I knew he was special. If you would have asked me 7 years ago if I thought I’d be standing here today, I would have said no…only because I thought I never stood a chance. Danny is the complete opposite of me, yet we fit perfectly together. He is my calm, my loudness, my outgoing, my laid back and my silly. Danny has loved me unconditionally during my best and worst times. He’s everything I could have ever dreamt and hoped for as a soul mate and father to our son. He’s my knight in shining armor.” Isn’t that the sweetest?

And Danny’s love for Mandy is portrayed in his words about her…“Mandy cares very much for her family and friends. Always willing to help them with anything that she can. This carries over to myself and Bradley, our son. She goes above and beyond with us and is always making sure that we have what we need, when we need it. Her sense of adventure is something I really love about her. She’s always up for anything regardless of where or what it is. She’s always fun. When we first met, we could have the best time simply conversing with my friends and family in the garage or over a few cold drinks. She’s just like me…she likes to take life slow and tries to cherish each and every moment she can. Best of all, she is super sweet and has such a loving and caring heart.”

When Mandy was in nursing school, she was having a conversation with a friend about relationships. Her friend said, “You never know where your true love may be…he could be in the next room.” Little did Mandy know, her friend was right! Danny was also training to be a nurse at the same school. She saw him in the hallway at times, but there was no real connection  until they started working at the same nursing home. After becoming friends, their relationship began to grow deeper.  When Mandy was unexpectedly hospitalized, Danny had to tell Mandy he loved her. From that point on, they knew that had to be together. During a family photo shoot, Danny got down on one knee and asked Mandy be his wife. They already had a son together, and now, they wanted to be a real official family. Mandy says, “We are far from a traditional couple. We are everything I thought I never wanted. I always pictured dating, engaged, wedding then family.. but I couldn’t be happier with the way our lives together have turned out.”   And yes….they even still work together!

On the day of their wedding, Mandy and her “girls” had their hair and makeup done at Darla’s Hair Care and Spa. The groom and groomsmen were already at Stoltzfus Homestead and Gardens waiting for the big day to begin. They had decided to do a “first look” with Mandy’s dad, then also with each other. The first look with her dad was precious and sweet. Mandy looked beautiful in her dress. And the first look between bride and groom was sentimental and full of love….but before that happened…this did.  Since playing jokes and goofing off is a normal occurrence between Mandy and Danny, she decided to play a joke on him. She had one of his groomsmen dress up in one of the bridesmaid’s dresses and pretend to be Mandy for their “first look”. When he turned around to see his bride, Danny’s facial expression was priceless. I think I captured this perfectly in the photos.

The ceremony was full of special moments and unique sentiments. Held in the Tobacco Barn at Stoltzfus, the bride and groom, and the bridal party all looked amazing. One of the personal touches on Mandy’s bouquet was a picture of her late “Pop-pop”. (see photo—it’s so special) Mandy and her family did many of the wedding details themselves, including, their invitations and programs, flowers, favors and signs. This made their wedding so much more personal. Mandy says, “My first favorite part of the day was when we said our wedding vows. We wrote them ourselves. Being able to express our love in front of all of our family and friends was amazing! My second favorite, (only because it happened second) was when we shared a sand ceremony with our son! He was so exited to have a special part in our special day. He thought I was marrying him too!”

Stoltzfus never fails to provide an amazing reception experience. The Grand Barn and outdoor gardens were decorated beautifully and offered many areas to relax, eat and enjoy the evening. The tender moments at the first dance were incredible. Mandy surprised her mother with a “first dance” also. They are best friends and she wanted her mom to feel special also.

The entire day was an incredible celebration of love, family and the enjoyment of life. I was blessed to meet this family and spend the day with them.   Congratulations, Mandy and Danny! May you have many years of happiness together.
