Jen + Mike | Engaged

A Lancaster County Engagement Session

“My life is brighter and happier with Mike in it, and I have never felt so sure about anything in my whole entire life as I feel about marrying him.”   ~Jen

Jen and Mike’s engagement session was incredible. It’s always fun getting to know my couples, and when golden hour lighting is as gorgeous as it was on this day, I consider it a complete success!

Jen and Mike met through a mutual friend. Their first date was also Jen’s first time to try sushi (I’d say that’s pretty brave for a first date!) Thankfully, she really liked it, and China Manor has become one for their favorite places to go for dinner…because of the special memory and also because of the great food!

Jen’s first impression of Mike was that he was handsome and a little quiet. His quietness was intriguing and Jen couldn’t wait to get to know him more. Add to that his respectful manner and good sense of humor and she was definitely interested. Mike’s first impression of Jen was that she was beautiful, kind and genuine. He loved her outgoing personality (opposites attract). Her upbeat way of looking at things made him smile and he knew right away that he wanted to spend more time with her.

Fast forward to December of 2019, when Mike planned a camping trip to Fancy Gap, Virginia. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it was the perfect place to hike and celebrate the love they had for each other. After a long and exhausting hike, they made it to a breathtaking overlook at the top of the mountain. Jen said she felt like she was on top of the world, and it wasn’t long until she definitely was! Mike looked at her, gave her a kiss and got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. With tears of joy, she said YES! Jen was so overcome with emotion and joy, that she cried the whole way back down the mountain. They both were so happy that they would be spending the rest of their life with their best friend and soulmate.

When I asked what they love most about each other, I love Jen’s answer. “It’s almost impossible for me to put into words all the things I love about Mike. He has such a big heart, and cares so deeply about the ones he loves. I love all the support and encouragement he gives me day in and day out to accomplish and achieve all the things I want in life. He is my biggest cheerleader, always in my corner. He makes me feel so loved, and important every single day. I love how much fun we have together, whether we’re at a concert, exploring a new city, or just sitting at home on the couch. My life is brighter and happier with him around, and I have never felt so sure about anything in my whole entire life as I feel about marrying him.”

Mike’s reply is equally as sweet. He loves Jen’s outgoing personality, and her ability to make friends wherever she goes. He loves how big her heart is and how she’ll do whatever she can for anyone in need. Spending time with Jen is his favorite thing to do, and  even when they are only apart for a short period of time he misses her, and can’t wait to see her again. He loves that after a hard day at work, he can look forward to seeing Jen, because he knows no matter what kind of day he had, she’ll be able to lift him up and put a smile on his face.

The Stone Mill Inn is the first and only venue they visited. From the moment they walked on the property, they knew there was something magical about it. Both of them being nature lovers made this the perfect location for their outdoor wedding. The venue has so much natural beauty, complete with an abundance of lush greenery and gorgeous gardens. I know it will be beautiful this spring!

Congratulations on your engagement, Jen and Mike! I can’t wait to capture your special day! See you in May!!!
