Jen + Mike | Married

A Stone Mill Inn Wedding

You may remember Jen and Mike from when we wrote their engagement story on the blog last year. One thing that comes to my mind was Jen’s quote about marrying Mike. “My life is brighter and happier with Mike in it, and I have never felt so sure about anything in my whole entire life as I feel about marrying him.” Her dream finally came true, and what a bright, happy wedding day they had!

I always love going to the Stone Mill Inn for weddings. Their “Woodland” venue is not only intimate and beautiful, it’s also perfectly nestled in a magical wooded wonderland surrounded by gorgeous trees, flowers and amazing craftsmanship that makes it the perfect place to say “I do”.

The day of the wedding began with the bridal party getting ready at their respective places. Mike and his groomsmen got ready at the Courtyard Marriott in Lancaster. Jen and her ladies went to the venue early in the morning to prepare for the big day.  The bridal suite at Stone Mill Inn is the ideal place for ladies to get pampered. With beautiful modern decor, bright lighting and comfortable seating, the bride and bridesmaids have everything they need. The ladies enjoyed laughing, reminiscing and little bit of ‘happy crying’ as they reflected over the last year of Jen and Mike’s engagement. The closer they got to the ceremony time, Jen started to get butterflies. While she got the final touches done on her hair, she realized Mike was waiting for her, guests were arriving and soon, all eyes would be on her. Despite the nervous feelings, she still had a sense of peace of love and couldn’t wait to meet Mike at the end of the aisle and commit her life to him. We were able to get some beautiful shots of Jen, her bridesmaids, and her mother. Jen wanted a ‘first look’ with her father and that was an intimate and emotional moment. It was one of the top highlights of the day for her. She and her dad have alway been really close, and she refers to him as a pillar in her life. She’s so thankful that he loves Mike and that he knows that Mike will always take care of his little girl.  The photos with both of her parents will be one of Jen’s greatest treasures throughout her life.

As Jen walked along the path through the “Woodlands”, all eyes were on her…and then back to Mike. Everyone wanted to see his reaction to his beautiful bride, and he did not disappoint. He was overcome with love and admiration.  The ceremony was filled with promises of love, vows of faithfulness and prayers for a strong marriage. It was so special. When Mike and Jen were pronounced “husband and wife”, it was such a happy time!

The Stone Mill Inn always hosts amazing receptions. The food was incredible, the music was fun and the dining area looked beautiful! Mike and Jen’s ‘first dance’ was another highlight for her. They had picked their ‘first dance’ song not long after their engagement. Mike isn’t a fan of dancing, so they decided they needed some practice. On many evenings, they practiced in the kitchen with Jen crying and Mike kidding her about it. During their first dance, all of these sweet memories came back to them. The happy tears, the jokes from Mike, and the joyful anticipation of becoming man and wife. They were both lost in the moment and it was as if they were the only ones in the room. The rest of the reception was filled with lively dancing and lots of good food and drinks. We were able to get some gorgeous photos around the Inn. Everyone had an incredible day.

As Mike and Jen look back on their wedding day, they both agree that there’s not one thing they would change about it. From the amazing vendors, to the venue, to having everyone they loved most there to support them, it was everything they could have hoped for. It was truly their dream wedding.

In September, they’ll go back to where Mike asked Jen to spend forever with him for their honeymoon, the Blue Ridge Mountains in Fancy Gap, Va.  What better place to go than to where their lifelong commitment began? And then, in the spring they hope to take another trip somewhere farther away.

Jen and Mike’s wedding was so special. It was a beautiful celebration of love, and I was honored to capture their memories for them. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Duckson. May you both live happily ever after!

And they lived happily ever after!
