Mee Hye + Chris | Engaged

A Lancaster County Engagement Session

I had an awesome engagement session with these two! They’re so much fun and are naturals in front of the camera! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in just 3 weeks! Here’s a peek into their love story. We’ll be sharing the rest of it after the wedding, here, on the JM Journal!

Mee Hye, how did you and Chris meet?

Chris and I met at Philadelphia Rock Gym. I’ve been a climber since I was in middle school and the rock gym was like a second home to me at one point. When I went away to college, I would come back over the summer to climb with my friend Lauren (who’s a bridesmaid). In the summer of 2015, I met Chris. He was working at the rock gym and went up to my sister asking, “Am I barking up the wrong tree?” She answered “Yes”, and he asked me out anyway! The rest is history!

Tell me about the “Proposal”.

We got engaged at Ricketts Glen State Park. One of the things that we enjoy doing together is hiking. Chris planned a weekend away over Memorial Day weekend while I was in nursing school. We decided to hike the waterfall trail and while overlooking one of the waterfalls Chris got down on one knee and blurted out, “Will you marry me?” while death gripping the engagement ring so that he didn’t drop it into the water.  Chris knew that I wouldn’t be big on long drawn out speeches and what not, so his quick question and my speedy reply were ideal.

What are your favorite things about each other?

My favorite thing about Chris is his ability to talk to anyone about anything. Everywhere we go, Chris strikes up a conversation. When you meet him, Chris has a way of making you feel like you’ve known him for awhile. He has a genuine interest in people and learning about their lives.

My favorite thing about Mee Hye is how driven she is.  When she sets her mind on something, she gives it 110% until she achieves her goals.  Her focus and drive are an inspiration for me to try my best to be my best.  Watching her power through her intensive 11 month nursing program and earning amazing grades and landing her dream job BEFORE she even finished the program was awe inspiring.  She makes me want to be better in order to be half as amazing as she is.  She inspires me each and every day.

What’s the vision for your special day?

We are just so excited to be surrounded by family and friends and to celebrate our love! We want everyone to feel relaxed, enjoy each other’s company, and have great conversation! We will be incorporating different shades of purple but keeping decoration to a minimum to allow guests to enjoy the rustic feel of the barn and take advantage of the venue space. We are so excited for our families to get to know one another better.

Mee Hye and Chris chose Stoltzfus Homestead and Gardens as their wedding venue! They be getting married in just a few weeks! I’m so excited to be part of their special day!
